Why do membrane switches need keypad embossing?

Keypad embossing is to use a heat press to raise the keypad area on the membrane panel layer. This method has strict temperature and pressure requirements according to the natural characteristics and convex and concave characteristics of the membrane switch material.
There are generally four types of keypad embossing as follows:
(1) Frame line embossing: used when the edge of the switch is raised.
(2) Flat embossing: used when the entire switch is higher than the surface of the panel.
(3) Ball embossing: used for processing spherical buttons.
(4) Frame line embossing + ball embossing: not commonly used.

Advantages of membrane keypad switch designed as keypad embossing:
(1) The decorative effect of the appearance of the membrane switch is increased.
(2) The operator's fingers are more tactile.
(3) Accurately determine the range of the keypad.
(4) Improve the recognition speed of operations.


Membrane keyboard switches are designed as keypad embossing factors:
(1) Special mold thermal processing is required.
(2) The limit temperature of embossed polyester is 50°C.
(3) The embossing height should not exceed 1.5 times the material thickness.
(4) Flat embossing should be at least 3mm or 5mm from the edge.
(5) The distance between the frame embossed keypad and the edge is at least 5mm.
(6) Excessive force will reduce the mechanical life (for polycarbonate membrane, the mechanical life should be able to operate no less than 500,000 times).
