A typical membrane keypad consists of approximately eight distinct layers, of which only the uppermost layer—known as the "front panel film" (or decorative film)—is visible during actual use. This front panel film is custom-manufactured to meet your specific requirements. Beneath it—depending on the specific technology employed—lie various other layers, such as an adhesive layer for securing the front panel film, a protective cavity, an insulating layer, a flexible cable insulator, a copper (Cu) or siliver substrate layer, and a final adhesive layer used to mount the entire membrane keyboard onto the device housing or chassis. Situated right in the middle of all these layers lies the true "core" of the membrane keyboard: the metal dome. It serves two primary critical functions: first, providing tactile feedback; and second, ensuring that the functional commands selected by the user are accurately transmitted to the underlying electronic control unit.
Although touchscreen-based applications are currently becoming the mainstream trend, market demand remains exceptionally strong for traditional membrane keyboards that feature a distinct "pressure point" and provide tactile feedback. Our membrane keyboards, for instance, represent the ideal solution for meeting precisely these needs; this product series stands out thanks to the following characteristics:
An exceptional tactile experience combined with ease of operation
A distinct pressure point (crucial for scenarios involving operation while wearing gloves)
Versions featuring backlight illumination are also available
The series includes a range of highly innovative membrane switch keyboards that meet the highest standards in terms of both tactile experience and ergonomics. This human-machine interface is renowned for its unique "short-travel key feel" and its excellent finger-guidance capabilities. The overall design of the keyboard—including the number and layout of the keys—can be fully customized to your exact specifications.
